The youngest of three children, Katya's childhood was stereotypical in many ways. Her father was a factory worker and her mother was a seamstress. Katya received good grades in school and was an avid reader of action and adventure novels. She was tomboyish and skilled in athletics as well, though she preferred archery and soccer to “women's” sports. She first entered the gloom at the age of 9. As an initiate, Katya had a hard time deciding between Light and Dark. It was her oldest brother's accidental death and the kindness of the healer who attempted to save him which finally tipped the balance for her. She joined the Night Watch in 1990, right after high school.
Katya doesn't have much time for self reflection, but seems to know herself well nonetheless. She's always active, never sitting still for too long. Her impulsive nature has gotten her into trouble in the past, but her coworkers consider her to be quick thinking, trustworthy, and sincere. Her charming personality has resulted in friendships with both Light and Dark Others. As the name implies, the tiger is her preferred animal form. Although she is in her 30s, she looks and acts much younger. She loves adventure and lives in a large house riddled with secret passages.
As a field agent in the Night Watch, Katya is partnered with Bear, who is also her lover.
